Michael Negrete is the UCLA student who disappeared from his dorm room on 12/10/99. He is a very talented musician and a very good person.

For two years, 1997 through 1999, Mike Negrete played steel drum and trumpet in the Island Fever band, mostly during the summertime. Many San Diego residents and visitors have seen him performing with us at the San Diego Zoo and other places.

Since Mike has been missing, the band members, friends and fans have been very concerned. We held a benefit concert on 1/30/00 to help raise funds for the investigation. An earlier fund-raising concert was organized and held in the UCLA area by Chris Wabich, Mike's steel drum teacher.

We will have another benefit concert in October 2004!

It has been quite a while, and Michael Negrete has still not been located. It appeared there were just no leads. But two Private Investigators (MSM Investigations) are now on the case, working for the Negrete family. They have some new leads, and they are bringing public attention to the case again on the news.

The investigators have asked us to have another fund raiser event. We plan to do so and will post the date and details here as soon as they are set.
It will be an excellent show, and a silent auction. Not to be missed!

Michael Negrete was a cherished member of our band, and very well-liked by all, including many musicians and other entertainers. We hope he will be found, or at least answers will be forthcoming as to what happened. We are pleased to support the investigation once again.

Island Fever

Mike had just started his freshman year at UCLA in September of 1999. He was very happy and enthusiastic. He is a well loved, stable and intelligent person. He is unusually mature for his years. Based on knowing Mike for the last couple of years, we don't think he would leave without letting his family know where he is unless he was ill, taken against his will, or somehow misled.
